Faculty Positions

Assistant Professor of Economics

George Mason University, Korea (GMUK), invites applications for a position in Economics at the assistant rank starting Fall 2019 (August). Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics and be prepared to teach introductory courses on macroeconomics and microeconomics, as well as upper division electives including international economic policy. Competitive candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching an international student population is a plus.
This is a full-time, non-tenure track position. The compensation package is competitive, and all international hires include support for relocation expenses (airfare and shipping allowance), furnished housing, annual leave travel allowance, dependent educational expenses, and health insurance in Korea’s excellent health care system.

George Mason University Korea is an extended campus of George Mason University, which has three campuses in the United States. GMUK is located on the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) in Songdo, in the city of Incheon, Korea. Songdo is a vibrant international community, designated as a “Smart City,” located approximately half hour from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport and about an hour from Seoul. George Mason University Korea began its operation in March 2014 and has grown ten-fold since the opening. GMU Korea students receive the same George Mason University degree as the students in the United States and spend one year on the U.S. campus in Fairfax, near Washington DC. Current degrees offered include accounting, finance, management, economics, global affairs, and conflict analysis and resolution. Staff Positions

Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships Development

Under the general supervision of the Chief Business Officer, the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships Development expands the network of academic and employer relationships that support the University’s vision, by targeting, recruiting, and signing right-fit strategic partnerships. This position is responsible for the pursuit and signing of new national strategic partnerships, while supporting the pursuit of new strategic partnerships in GMU Korea.

This position reports to the Chief Business Officer.

  • Target national/international strategic partnerships with right-fit University partners, associations, third-party alliances, and academic institutions.
  • Project a professional presence and deliver presentations to potential partner organizations with the sales acumen in line with University policy and process
  • Regularly monitor and review projects in order to ensure objectives and deliverables are met.
  • Demonstrate thoughtful and appropriate time management in extending the vision, strategies and tactics required for profitable and sustained partner engagement and implementation across all assigned accounts.
  • Develop and manage prospect pipeline and prospect pursuit strategy
  • Collaborate all prospecting efforts with appropriate internal and external clients
  • Develop and execute national/international GMU Korea hosted events in support of partnership pursuit efforts. Participation includes pre-event efforts to secure partner participation and marketing of the event to appropriate audiences, support the day-of activities and complete follow-up tasks.
  • Participates in strategic planning, organizing, developing work processes, identifying and implementing improvements, and leading organizational impacting projects
  • Develop University policies governing impact and partnership development and knowledge exchange in response to changes in legislation and/or to reflect best practice
  • Interact with and support the efforts of a diverse team of individuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Business Officer.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Management, Marketing or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in business development and strategic partnerships development in solution selling across internal and external corporate clients.
  • Well networked in area of expertise, with an appreciation of related funding supporting knowledge transfer.
  • Demonstrable partnership development skills and academic/industry collaboration either through experience in preferably higher education sector or from an industrial/commercial perspective.
  • Experience of provision of high quality customer care to a wide range of internal and external corporate clients.
  • Knowledge of general national/international policies for University how to exchange and experience of delivering support and development to academics in related market.
  • Understands the national impact landscape and able to translate impact policies into operational plans.
  • Oral and written communication and presentation skills that enable effective collaborations at all levels and which stimulate the trust, confidence and enthusiasm of the academic community, college and professional service staff, partner organizations and external bodies dealing with highly complex issues.
  • Excellent computer literacy; for example use of excel, PowerPoint, and word.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead the proposal development stage of collaborative projects.

Senior Admissions Counselor

George Mason University Korea Office of Admissions & Enrollment invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor to focus recruitment efforts domestically and internationally for the Mason Korea Campus. Responsibilities:
The Admissions Counselor is a member of the staff of the Office of Admissions & Enrollment and contributes to the overall recruitment efforts of George Mason University Korea. Responsibilities include representing GMU Korea to a wide and diverse audience on and off campus, traveling several weeks each year both domestically and internationally, corresponding with prospective students and their families. The Admissions Counselor reports to the Director of Admissions & Enrollment.

Recruitment & Territory Management
• Recruits incoming new students with an emphasis on building relationships from inquiry to matriculation and exemplary customer service.
• Promotes the University via high school visits, college fairs and on-campus programming.
· Providing timely and professional responses to all inquiries and applicants (walk-ins, telephone inquiries, direct mail responses, internet and interactive leads, etc.) to schedule appointments, meet in person or by telephone or skype, and enroll into appropriate programs.
• Monitoring progress of prospective student files; requesting, collecting and distributing documents and supplemental materials as needed.
• Analyzes data and statistics to identify trends that impact both domestic and international recruitment. Measures the effectiveness of recruitment tactics.
• Assist in the daily operation of the Songdo campus, and assist the director with management of annual budget.
• Ability to speak additional languages other than English and Korean is plus. • Assume other duties as requested by the Director of Admissions & Enrollment.

Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required;
· Three to four professional experience in corporate or higher education institution setting is plus;
· Fluent in both English and Korean;
· Excellent oral and written both English and Korean communications skills;
· Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations;
· Ability to prioritize tasks in a hectic, deadline-driven environment often working on multiple tasks concurrently;
· Ability to be a quick learner of office/university procedures, and use learned procedures to help prospective students and families in both English and Korean;
· Demonstrated significant data analysis skill is required
· Comfortable with public speaking in both Korean and English in large and small group situations;
· Knowledge of admissions programs, academic programs, and project management experience;
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills in relation to customer service;
· Willingness and ability to travel extended periods and work extended hours, including evenings and weekends;
· Has valid Korean driver’s license
· Strong attention to detail and ability to complete administrative tasks autonomously;
· Exemplary decision-making skills in the absence of direct supervision;
· Good organizational skills;
· Technologically literate, comfortable with social media and learning new software;
· Self-motivated, eager to learn and take on new assignments;
· High energy is necessary as it includes heavy travel and night and weekend hours;
· Ability to independently manage and complete work assignments without close supervision is mandatory;
· Ability to safely and independently lift 20 pounds.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to independently transport boxes of recruitment material (typically weighing up to 50 pounds). Must also be able to travel independently by automobile and public transportation.
