This session of GAME 399 will focus on the topics of Extended Reality (XR) and Serious Games.

XR covers a spectrum from Augmented Reality to Virtual Reality, and this course will cover introductions to the various parts of the spectrum, discuss particular design problems and considerations when working with these mediums, explore the technologies used to create applications in XR, and examine case studies of existing applications in these fields.

The course will also briefly cover information on Serious Games, the use of game technology and design principles for non-entertainment purposes. While there will be a particular focus on the overlap of XR and Serious Games, there will also be some broader overview of the topic and existing examples of Serious Games.
