Elementary Korean I covers basic grammatical structures and vocabularies necessary for entry-level conversation, reading comprehension, and writing so that students can build a solid foundation for further study in Korean language and Korean studies. The course also provides useful information on culture, history and daily life in Korea, whenever pertinent topics are introduced. The course aims for students to achieve the ability to maintain simple face-to-face conversations by asking and answering simple questions in Korean (speaking), understand the main segments of the textbook and covered materials in audio sound (listening), write simple sentences (writing), and comprehend simple sentences in written texts (reading).
