George Mason University Korea awards various types of scholarships for new and continuing GMUK students every year. These awards not only recognize strong academic talent and achievement, but also leadership and engagement. You can find more information on each scholarship opportunity below.

Entrance Scholarship

GMU Korea offers Entrance Scholarships ranging from USD 1,000 to USD 15,000. Scholarships are renewable every semester for up to six semesters on the Korea campus as long as the recipient remains in good standing(academic, student conduct, financial) and maintains a GPA of 3.3.

Mason Merit Scholarship

At George Mason University, our goal is to promote academic success. To acknowledge those who have demonstrated such merit, we provide the annual Mason Merit Scholarship every Spring to a student who demonstrates continuous improvement and strives for the highest academic achievements. The scholarship amount is USD 2,000 per semester for up to two semesters. Applicants must be in good standing(academic, student conduct, financial) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Mason Leadership Scholarship

As an institution of higher education, we take pride in knowing that our students will become the leaders of tomorrow. Many leaders attribute their successes to their past experiences, such as overcoming adversities during their lives. To help facilitate the growth of our future leaders, we provide annual Mason Leadership Scholarship every Spring based on a student’s leadership history and potential. The scholarship amount is USD 2,000 per semester for up to two semesters. Applicants must be in good standing(academic, student conduct, financial) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7.

Transition to Fairfax Scholarship

The Transition to Fairfax Scholarship is to support George Mason University Korea students attending George Mason University in Fairfax. This scholarship program supports academically qualified students who demonstrate need for financial assistance. The maximum scholarship amount is USD 5,000 per semester for up to two semesters. Applicants must be in good standing(academic, student conduct, financial) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Mason Community Service Scholarship

As an institution of higher education, we place great importance in recognizing the contributions of students who are committed to improving the campus experience of their fellow students.  As such,  GMUK students who are selected to participate in programs developed under the auspices of the Office of Student Affairs for the purposes of enhancing the welfare of the GMUK student community on campus, are eligible to receive  a community service scholarship. Students selected for such programs will be expected to provide ongoing support services and/or activities for their fellow students in accordance with the specific programs for which they are selected. The scholarship amount is USD 750 per semester. Applicants must be in good standing(academic, student conduct, financial) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.

Stay Mason Student Support Fund 

The Stay Mason Student Support Fund assists matriculated George Mason students who are at risk of not continuing their education due to unexpected financial situations. The fund is for all students – undergraduate and graduate, full-time and part-time – enrolled in degree-seeking programs. The Stay Mason Student Support Fund is designed to provide temporary, short-term, financial assistance to students who are managing demanding academic requirements while struggling with debilitating financial circumstances. The Stay Mason Student Support Fund is not intended to provide ongoing relief for recurring expenses, and the financial assistance is not a loan that is expected to be repaid.

Applicants must be eligible to be enrolled during the semester for which the funding is being requested and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The number of students who can be served by the Stay Mason Student Support Fund is subject to the availability of funds.
