Zainab Nisa

Lecturer

Zainab Nisa (she/her/hers) is a Communication Studies instructor at GMU. She received her M.A. in Communication Studies in 2019 at San Jose State University. During her time there, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Associate and taught public speaking through the dialogic, problem-posing model of education. In addition to teaching, Zainab is also a marketing and copywriting specialist. She loves effective communication, and she especially enjoys the intersection of good communication and excellent visual design. Zainab strives to teach through various mediums that cater to all styles of learning, whether it's through a well-crafted PowerPoint or a nicely timed meme. As a Communication Studies scholar, she uses her experiences as an Indian-Fijian female to offer a unique voice to the professional, online, and academic world. She loves studying interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, feminism, racial profiling and discrimination, and marginalization. Ultimately, she hopes to use her voice and her position as an instructor to help illuminate the marginalized communities of the world, foster understanding and empathy, and empower her students to become their best selves inside and outside of the classroom.
