Yeseul Lee, 2024

Yeseul Lee

Yeseul Lee, a senior majoring in Management of Information Systems (MIS) and minoring in Computational and Data Sciences at Mason Korea, successfully completed an internship at XAI Land last fall, while simultaneously completing a three-credit business course (MIS 492).

Lee is the first Mason Korea student to intern at XAI Land after the Seoul-based prop tech start-up signed an MOU with Mason Korea last spring. She is also one of the first students to be studying Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) since the program was launched at Mason Korea last year.

After learning about the internship opportunity through Mason Korea’s Career Development Center (CDC), Lee immediately reached out to Sangyong Lee, CDC Director, and Ray Chetti, CEO of XAI Land. Lee stood out due to her dual background in business and data science, and was selected for the position.

Lee’s comprehensive role involved data preprocessing, paperwork for different types of applications and business proposals, giving presentations, and providing translation support. She worked remotely throughout her internship.

“I enjoyed learning about the PropTech and FinTech industries,” said Lee, adding, “Working at a start up in itself was an invaluable experience. You get to see the overall progress of a business. What you do really has an impact on the business, even if you're just an intern. There is some pressure that comes with that, but there’s nothing like seeing your work contribute to positive results.”

“It is difficult to find interns who take ownership in the company and truly try their best to help outside of their "designated hours",” said Ray Chetti, CEO of XAI Land, adding, “but Yeseul saw what needed to be done and stepped up to support when necessary, which I sincerely appreciated. If other students are like Yeseul, it would be great to work with more Mason Korea students!”
