As an institution of higher education, we take pride in knowing that our students will become the leaders of tomorrow. Many leaders attribute their successes to their past experiences, such as overcoming adversities during their lives. To help facilitate the growth of our future leaders, we provide annual Mason Leadership Scholarship every spring based on a student’s leadership history and potential.
The Mason Leadership Scholarship amount is $2,000 per semester, for up to two semesters. Applicants must be in good standing with the University (e.g., academic, student conduct, financial) and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 at the time of application.

Scholarship Policy
Leadership Scholarship award amount is $2,000 per semester. Each award will last for two consecutive semesters. The awards are applicable only towards Spring and Fall semester tuition at Korea campus. The awards are not applicable to summer term tuition.
In order to be eligible to apply for the Leadership Scholarship, the applicant must
have been admitted to Mason Korea
be a in good academic standing
have a Mason student ID (G#) and email address
be free from any administrative holds
have cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher at the time of this application
If a student is selected as a recipient of this scholarship, a student must meet the requirements specified below to retain scholarship recipient status.
In order to retain one's scholarship recipient status, the recipient must;
maintain enrollment under full time status (12 credits or more per semester) at Mason Korea
Provide one presentation to the Scholarship Review Committee; the presentation will cover the scope of activities conducted by the student in regard to taking leadership in addressing a need or issue that has a significant impact in the student experience at GMU Korea, as well as reflect on what the student has learned about leadership during the entire scholarship year. The student is also required to meet with Student Affairs staff regularly to update on activities and progress and to receive assistance in planning presentations.
Otherwise, the award will be forfeited. Please note that George Mason University reserves the right to rescind all or part of this scholarship if the student does not meet these requirements.
* Exception for Fairfax Transition If a recipient applies for Fairfax transition after spending the first semester with this award, the second semester award can be paused and reserved for maximum of 2 semesters. Reserved award can be reinstated when the student register for Korea campus after spending two semesters in Fairfax.

Write an original essay addressing the questions of how you already, and will, contribute to George Mason University Korea (e.g., leading a student organization, volunteering, etc.) and the community, and how your past experiences help make such contributions. In addressing those questions, be sure to explain what leadership means to you and how the scholarship will help you grow and succeed personally. There is no minimum or maximum word count, but the essay must be no more than two pages, single-spaced, in Times New Roman font, 12-point font size, and one-inch page margins. Essays are often the deciding factor for scholarship recipients, so the applicant should carefully prepare. Please attach to your online application.
Upload your resume. Please include your extracurricular activities in school, if any (e.g., number of years in the organization, offices, committee work, etc.) and List, if any, your interests, activities, special talents, awards, work-related activities, volunteer activities, paid employment, and offices held, in or out of school, that you believe have contributed to your personal development.
