Over the span of two days beginning on June 8, George Mason University Korea offered middle and high school students from Gangwon Province the opportunity to experience a global education through the “2018 Donghae Youth Global Leadership Program.”
Mason Korea and Donghae City have collaborated since signing an MOA in May 2017 on developing Donghae's youth education. As a result, the Donghae Youth Global Leadership Program was launched last year, which includes visits to the Mason Korea campus in June and September as well as the main Mason campus in Fairfax, Virginia in August.
The 2018 Global Leadership Program had 38 student participants selected among Donghae youth. The program offers campus and college tours as well as student mentors to help students cultivate their own goals and dreams through a global educational experience. Students also attended “Hallyu and Culture Globalization” lectures taught by Professor Gyu Tag Lee of Mason Korea, who is an active pop music critic.
