Terms for Staff Appointments

Effective: Jan 1, 2020

Mason Korea is committed to building a community of highly engaged and motivated workforce to achieve our institutional goals. In order to attract quality talent and sustain our organizational culture, our hiring process and contract terms provides supervisors the opportunity to interact with and evaluate all new hires to ensure a long-term organizational fit.

Contract Terms for non-exempt positions:

  • First term: New full-time hires (40 hours/week) will have up to a 9-month contract.
  • Second term: Next contract (if applicable) will be up to a maximum of 12 months.
  • Third term: Depending on institutional need, budgetary approval and satisfactory performance, all eligible employees may be converted to a non-term contract.

 

Contract Terms Sample

This is a 40 hour/week 9-month contract position (first term) with the possibility of renewal for up to additional 12 months (second term). Conversion to permanent position after second term is contingent on institutional need, budgetary approval and satisfactory performance.

 

Note: The above does not apply to exempt positions. These positions are defined as senior level positions that don’t require mandatory non-term contracts after 2 years. These positions will have renewable contract terms based on institutional needs, budgetary approval and satisfactory performance.
