Can you briefly tell us about your major?
The Conflict Analysis and Resolution (CONF) major itself is very significant but it is simultaneously applicable to all situations. When I took the CONF 101 class, I knew that this distinctive major suited me more than any other field, and it really does stimulate my interest every day. I suppose this major is a combination of sociology, political science, history, psychology, and communication, which I dreamed to study in university.
What are classes like?
Most CONF classes are debate-based classes. This means that you get to engage with your professors (a lot) throughout the class. You must be prepared before classes and know what you are going to discuss regarding the theories you are learning.
What was your most unique lecture experience?
All CONF majors are required to deliver a presentation during class at least once a semester. This is quite a challenging but very rewarding experience. You dig into historical documents and scholastic articles. When you finally present after all that hard work, you feel very professional and confident, and I am telling you, that feels awesome!
Have you completed any internships related to your major?
This year, I became a student fellow at the Peace and Conflict Studies Center Asia (PACSC), a research center for GMUK CONF students. This means I get to be involved with the school as a CONF student as well as apply my studies to research opportunities. I have also been named the 2020 CONF major representative.
What is your dream occupation after majoring in this field of study?
Learning theories and applying them in the real world to resolve many international issues is what I want to do after I graduate. I cannot define my dream occupation as a one specific job. I just want to say that I dream of working in international society or diplomacy to bring more justice and constructive development in the world.
