Fall 2021 Campus Dean's Welcome Message to Students

photoDear Patriots,

Welcome to the Fall 2021 semester! I hope that you have gotten off to a good start with your first week of classes.

You are joining or returning to a truly special community. Mason Korea’s faculty are talented teachers and scholars who are creating new knowledge in their fields. Our staff are dedicated to your successful experience here. And you are a multilingual and multicultural student body with strong records of past educational success.

And then there’s George Mason itself. George Mason is a top research university, only one of about 130 universities in the US to make it into the Carnegie “very high research” (R1) category. And just this year, Mason was named the top university under 50 years old in the US. It is also a university that puts student success first and prides itself on its diversity and inclusivity.

During this semester, please be sure to take advantage of all the resources Mason has to offer you. Challenge yourself to do your best work. If you’re having trouble in a class, talk to your professor during his or her office hours. If you need help, find the staff member who can help you. Join a student organization. Participate in a co-curricular or extra-curricular activity. Seek out internships or the opportunity to do research with a faculty member or on your own. Share ideas and friendship with your fellow students.

I recognize the continued pandemic creates special challenges. I am proud of the flexibility and adaptability of our teachers and students, and of our campus’ commitment to the health and safety of all.

Enjoy your Mason Korea experience, enjoy our special community and its opportunities. You will be glad you did, and glad to be able to give back to others because of all you have done and learned.
