Mason Korea Celebrates President Washington’s Investiture

photoMason Korea celebrated the Investiture of George Mason University President Gregory Washington in an event that spanned the globe, bringing together participants who gathered both in person and online in Virginia and in Korea.

In Korea, campus leadership gathered in-person with the rest of the community online. Mason Korea students and faculty currently at the Fairfax campus congratulated President Washington in person. Rose Pascarell, Vice President for University Life, emceed the event and members of the Korean Students Association performed a dance to the BTS song “Permission to Dance.”

photoDr. Washington expressed his enthusiasm about Mason Korea, especially having spent time in Korea and being familiar with Korean culture. “Mason Korea is important because we no longer live in a one country world,” he said, adding, “Our world is truly global. If we're going to be successful in all of the endeavors that we need to be successful in tackling the big challenges that we face, we’re going to have to do them together because what is done in one part of the world actually affects another part of the world.”

Mason Korea Campus Dean Robert Matz thanked President Washington for his support of Mason Korea. “We at Mason Korea are excited about your plans for Mason, and excited to share your ambitions for Mason and Mason Korea’s growth,” he said.
