Sangyong Lee, Director of Mason Korea's Career Development Center and four Mason Korea graduates were recently featured in major Korean daily, The JoongAng Ilbo. The article covers Mason Korea's achievement of a total graduate employment rate of 80%, three years since establishing the Career Development Center (CDC).
The Center has been running numerous student support programs over the past three years, and Mason Korea plans to continue supporting various student-centered programs differentiated by class through credit-linked internships in partnership with foreign companies, reinforcement of experiential internship programs at public and multinational corporations, and Center expansion and relocation.
All four alumni interviewees have achieved remarkable career success by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the CDC and consistent communication with Sangyong Lee. Hwi-Yong Kim (Global Affairs, ‘18) is working at the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), Min Sung Kang (Business with a concentration in Accounting, ’20) is currently interning at Deloitte Anjin Accounting Corporation, Yelim Ku (Global Affairs, ’21) is currently interning at the multinational corporation Philips Korea as a Consumer Marketing Intern, and Ambrose (Do Hyun) Lee (Business with a concentration in Accounting, ’22) was recently offered a full-time position at Deloitte US pending graduation.
“I gained knowledge and experience that others could not easily attain while attending school," said Hwi-Yong Kim, adding, "As I dreamed of entering an international organization, I was able to gain practical experience not only through theoretical knowledge gained through classes, but also through fellowships and internships involving various projects.” Yelim Ku also emphasized the role of the CDC. “I was able to intern at the Global Green Growth Institute with a recommendation from CDC," she said, adding, "I was able to build my network there and actively participate in external activities so that I could set my career direction in marketing and communication."
CDC Director Sangyong Lee emphasized the importance of having a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. "This is a common value that applies to all generations and will help you find a good mentor. Remember that having an attitude to learn is the starting point for the success and competitiveness that our society demands."
