Professor George Whelan, who teaches mathematics at Mason Korea, was recently invited to lecture to a gifted math class at Yangchung High School located in Mokdong, Seoul. Mason Korea has collaborated with Yangchung High School on several programs since signing a joint agreement in May.
Professor Whelan lectured on the Principles of Mathematical Induction and began his lecture with a game called The Tower of Hanoi. Students were highly engaged throughout the lecture.
“I deliberated on a topic that would be of interest to the students,” said Professor Whelan, who has been teaching at Mason Korea since 2017. “I really enjoyed talking to these outstanding high school students and look forward to more opportunities to connect with high school students in Korea,” he added.
