Mason Korea faculty and staff engaged with issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion at a mandatory DEI Training Workshop last month.
The workshop, organized by Mason Korea's DEI Task Force Co-Chairs Shannon N. Davis (academic dean) and Yorgun Marcel (university life dean), focused on the current strengths around cross-cultural engagement of Mason Korea employees and provided insights on how employees can work collectively to reach intercultural goals as an educational institution.
"One of the key recommendations of the DEI Task Force was to implement Mason Korea-focused training on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Dr. Shannon Davis, Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Director of IUCF at Mason Korea. “Dr. Park's workshop is the first of several such trainings that will bring together employees to focus on these topics here at Mason Korea," she added.
The training workshop was led by guest speaker Dr. Mary Kay Park, Founder of Intercultural Cue, who discussed research-based insights on multicultural organizations and led a series of interactive workshops.
Mason Korea’s DEI Task Force is composed of 14 faculty, staff, and student members who are working together to bring forward ideas on how to build an Inclusive Excellence Plan for Mason Korea.
