Two Mason Korea Students Receive Association of Old Crows Scholarships

Mason Korea students Leah Tudor and Ryan Chiwon Park recently won the Colonel Arthur N. Tulak Scholarship presented by the Association of Old Crows, the Diamond Head Hawaii Chapter.

“I was extremely excited and honored when I heard I won the scholarship,” said Leah Tudor, a sophomore Global Affairs major who won first place for her essay “Raising Awareness: Hopes for Humanitarianism.”

“I wrote about how my unique life experiences taught me various lessons and instilled certain traits in me that enable me to best contribute to raising awareness on humanitarian issues around the globe,” said Tudor.

Both students learned about the scholarship opportunity through an announcement from the Mason Korea Scholarship Committee. The students submitted original essays on how they envision using their interests, skills, and career to bring awareness to humanitarian issues.

“I was surprised I won a scholarship,” said Ryan Chiwon Park, a freshman majoring in Computational and Data Sciences who won third place.

“I planned and drafted my scholarship essay on my own,” said Park, adding, “My essay was centered on my dream of becoming a data scientist and I wrote about someone who runs a social enterprise.”

Both students encourage fellow students to take advantage of every opportunity available at Mason Korea and to not be afraid to try new things, which in some cases can land you a scholarship.
