Mason Korea Enjoys Record-Breaking Mason Day

The Mason Korea community came together to celebrate a phenomenally successful Mason Day 2023 on the final Friday of April. A record-breaking 500 attendees showed up to enjoy original performances, an array of food trucks, and a host of booths showcasing student clubs and resources.

This was the first time the event was held since the mandatory mask mandate was lifted, and the beautiful spring day was a much welcome bonus.

From an electrifying Bollywood dance number to K-pop and song performances, audiences were captivated by the sheer talent at Mason Korea. Notably, three Mason Korea faculty also made their debut as members of the GLOA Playlist, a band consisting of students and faculty from the global affairs department.

This year’s special guest performer, Stella Jang, a singer-songwriter who was chosen by popular student vote, wowed the crowd with her performances in Korean, English, and French.

Mason Day was once again planned and executed by the Office of University Life with the support of Mason Korea Student Leaders (Patriots Activities Council and Student Government) and staff members. The event welcomed members from the entire IGC (Incheon Global Campus) and local communities.

"Mason Day is a tradition from Mason's US campus that has become one in Korea too," Robert Matz, Campus Dean at Mason Korea said. "I'm so glad that Mason Day joins a whole list of events and activities that are returning to normal following the covid pandemic. It's great to see Mason Korea and its communities once again able to come together and celebrate this tradition."
