Mason Korea Campus Dean Robert Matz recently gave an exclusive interview to the Incheon Daily (Incheon Ilbo).
In the interview conducted by Shin Yong Suk, Special Advisor for International Cooperation at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Matz and Shin discussed Mason Korea's unique strengths and competitiveness, while assessing the present and future of the Incheon Global Campus.
With thirty years of teaching and administrative experience at Mason, four of which were dedicated to serving as Mason Korea's Campus Dean, Matz gave a comprehensive overview of Mason Korea, covering its history, education, holistic admissions process, scholarship offerings, and student outcomes.
Matz emphasized that Mason Korea provides the same curricula as Mason's US campus and that students receive the same US degree upon graduation. He also highlighted that students spend three years studying at the Korea campus and one year at the Fairfax campus, which is strategically located next to the US capital, Washington, D.C.
Addressing the rapidly changing Fourth Industrial Revolution era, Matz stressed Mason's commitment to innovation. "Our two most recently added majors are in technology fields: Computational and Data Sciences and Computer Game Design." He also underscored the importance of social science majors in the new industrial age, stating, "Every important technology change drive in social conditions and requires thoughtful policymaking and even ethical and moral reflection. Our social science majors are equipped to address those challenges."
