Tell us about your career journey.
I graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, with a degree in marketing, and later pursued my MBA. My professional journey began with the United States Industry Coalition (USIC), where I collaborated with scientists from Russia on projects with the U.S. government. Unfortunately, I was cut from the project during Russia's involvement with the Super Committee. This led to the closure of the company, and I decided to take a break. Being near D.C. without a license made job hunting challenging. I had a tough time due to visa requirements, but eventually, I got involved with the United States Industry College after obtaining my license.
After joining the World Trade Organization, I moved to Motorpact, a company I was passionate about. While raising my child, I started a car YouTube channel, creating content and managing the associated social media. It was a different direction from my marketing background, but I found joy in editing videos and reporting on car tests.
What was the highlight of your Mason experience?
While at George Mason University, I was part of the student council based in the Johnson Center. My responsibilities included promoting upcoming activities to the student body. We organized events like a world camp, where young people from around the world came to Korea for a camp. We had keynotes, speeches, cultural performances, and even classical music. I also planned an event specifically for the Chinese community.
Any advice for our students who are looking for jobs in Korea?
I've always believed in embracing diverse experiences. Even if things didn't always go well, I learned from each attempt and adapted. It's crucial to explore different paths as you never know where your passion and success might lie.
My advice is to pursue your dreams passionately. It's essential to focus on building expertise in your chosen field and not be discouraged by temporary setbacks. Each experience contributes to your foundation, and persistence pays off in the long run. Always take advantage of school events where you can explore different ideas and new perspectives. Networking during such events, especially with alumni, can provide valuable insights and assistance when making important decisions in the future.
What does the future hold for you?
I am eager to continue giving lectures at companies, acquiring certifications, and eventually publishing a book. Plans for a personal channel and other projects are also in the pipeline. My goal is to continue growing professionally and make a positive impact in the years to come.
