Mason Korea Welcomes Largest New Class at Spring 2024 Convocation

Mason Korea faculty, staff, and students gathered to welcome the largest incoming class to date, with over 200 new students joining the community during the Spring 2024 New Student Convocation. This celebration marked the finale of Welcome Weekend, a two-day program led by Mason Korea’s University Life Office to familiarize newcomers with campus life before the start of the new semester.

A chorus of congratulatory remarks filled the air, with warm messages from Kelley Chung, Mason Korea's Associate Dean for Admissions and Government Affairs, and Shannon Davis, Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs. Campus Dean Robert Matz, in his final semester as Campus Dean before returning to the US this June, extended a heartfelt welcome to the new students. He also gave students six pieces of advice, including to see your professor at office hours, to give back to others, and to "be curious. Always. . . . If you want to be a successful student, cultivate the joy in learning, which is curiosity."

Adding to the excitement, the newly elected Student Government President, Sherlin Amaya, delivered her congratulatory address. The convocation concluded with the presentation of the Mason Korea Spirit Awards, recognizing students' unique qualities displayed throughout the Welcome Weekend activities.
