Mason Korea Celebrates Tenth Birthday

Over 200 Mason Korea students, faculty, and staff celebrated the campus' tenth birthday in a celebration held at the Global Lounge. Opening its doors on March 3, 2014 at the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) Multicomplex Building, Mason Korea held its official Opening Ceremony on March 10, 2014, and later moved to its dedicated building in September 2016.

From its inception with two undergraduate programs and 34 students in 2014, Mason Korea has grown remarkably over the past decade. Today, the campus offers six undergraduate and two graduate disciplines, and is home to over 900 students.

The celebration began with the singing of the happy birthday song led by Mason Korea Campus Dean Robert Matz. Attendees enjoyed performances by student bands Sketch and Crescent, a K-Pop dance by the student dance crew Nemesis, and the chance to win raffle prizes. And of course, no birthday party is complete without cake and in this case, green and gold cupcakes.

“It was such a pleasure to see so many members of the Mason Korea community come together for this birthday party,” Matz said. “The size and energy of the crowd gave a great sense of Mason Korea’s growth in ten years."

Mason Korea will hold a 10th anniversary-themed Mason Day in May, followed by a week of celebrations in June featuring senior leaders from the Fairfax campus along with distinguished guests from both the US and Korea.
