George Mason’s Fairfax campus recently held a week-long celebration to commemorate Mason Korea’s 10th anniversary.
Over 70 students, faculty, staff, and board members gathered for the kick-off event, an exclusive celebration for Mason Korea students currently studying in Fairfax.
“Despite the distance between the two campuses, we are one Mason,” emphasized Dr. Janette Muir, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at George Mason and Chair of the Mason Korea Board of Directors, in her opening remarks. She highlighted Mason Korea's notable achievements over the past decade, attributing them to the dedication of faculty, staff, and board members, and urging continued collaboration to further elevate the university's global reputation.
Student testimonials echoed the sentiment, with Sua Jang, a senior business major, noting, “There’s no difference in the quality of education.” Jang expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study at both the Korea and US campuses affordably.
The celebration featured gimbap and Korean snacks, providing a taste of Korean culture to attendees. Dr. Hyun Lee and Mr. Harold Pyon, members of Mason Korea’s advisory board in the US, also joined the ceremony.
Following the kickoff event, a series of online panels and a Korean film festival were held to further commemorate this milestone.
