Dr. Soyoung Kwon, an Associate Professor of Global Affairs and Director of the Center for Security Policy Studies-Korea (CSPS-Korea) at Mason Korea, was recently honored with the Minister’s Commendation award by the South Korean Minister of Unification during the Unification Education Week Ceremony.
The 12th Unification Education Week Ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Education, aimed to bolster the spirit of unification among Korean citizens. Dr. Kwon received this prestigious award from Minister of Unification, Yung-ho Kim, for her efforts to advance the groundwork of unification education and promote awareness of the significance of unification among Koreans.
Dr. Kwon's exceptional work as the CSPS-Korea Director was highlighted, encompassing activities such as facilitating field studies to the DMZ for Mason Korea students and CSPS-Korea fellows, conducting seminars and conferences on inter-Korea relations and unification issues, supervising students' research endeavors on unification matters, conducting her own research and teaching in the field, and spearheading annual security symposia as a public diplomacy platform for unification policies.
Dr. Soyoung Kwon shared this honor with Bada Nam, Director of Successful Unification Makers, and Youngsoo Kim, Head of the Institute of North Korea Studies, for their collective endeavors in nurturing a unified Korea.
