Mason Korea recently held its Fall 2024 Student Project Showcase, an event celebrating student research and creative activities.
Nearly 50 students presented their work through posters, exhibits, and presentations, offering a glimpse into their innovative projects. Fellow students, faculty, and staff gathered to explore the showcased works and interact with the presenters.
One standout project was led by CSPS-Korea Student Fellows, who conducted research on improving water quality in Incheon's Seunggi-cheon, a local stream. Under the guidance of Dr. Soyoung Kwon and Dr. Dakota McCarty, the team conducted fieldwork and data analysis, earning a mini-grant from George Mason University to support their research.
Another noteworthy project came from students in Dr. Miriam Ahmed’s AVT 311: Graphic Design Methods and Principles course, who showcased self-published children’s books that are now available on Kyobo, Korea’s largest bookseller, and Amazon.
Dr. Lynnette Leonard, an associate professor of communication, has led the showcase for the past two years. “The Showcase is a time for students’ efforts to really shine,” said Dr. Leonard. “It is inspiring to see the diverse projects Mason Korea students are part of and their enthusiasm to share what they have done with others. This event is just the beginning for these talented scholars and creators. I can’t wait to see where their hard work takes them next!”
