Mason Korea recently hosted its first-ever Donor Appreciation Dinner at Oakwood Premier COEX in Seoul, recognizing the individuals and partners who have supported the university’s mission and growth. Nearly 50 members of the Mason Korea community attended the event, including leadership, faculty, students, alumni, advisory board members, and donors.
The evening opened with a video message from George Mason University President Gregory Washington, followed by welcoming remarks from Campus Dean Joshua Park, who reflected on the significance of donor support. Soyoung Kwon, Associate Dean of External Affairs, gave a presentation titled “The Impact of Giving and What’s Ahead,” highlighting how philanthropy continues to shape Mason Korea’s development. Christina Cha, Director of Development and Partnerships, emceed the event.
One of the evening’s key moments was a speech by Advisory Board Member Sam Machour, CEO of Bio Investment Group AG and a generous donor, who emphasized the lasting impact of investing in education. The program also featured testimonials from current students, who held lighted books as a symbolic gesture of the opportunities made possible through donor support. An impromptu Korean art song performance by alumnus Seung Gyo Kim closed the evening on a memorable note.
The event marked more than a celebration—it was a reminder of the growing network that continues to support Mason Korea’s mission and its role in George Mason University’s broader efforts in the region.
