Briefly introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is Euvin, and I graduated from George Mason University in 2017 with a major in Global Affairs and a minor in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. I currently serve as the Field HR Coordinator at the Korea Office of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF; Doctors Without Borders), the world’s largest humanitarian medical organization. In this role, I work closely with Internationally Mobile Staff from Korea, supporting their recruitment, field deployment, and career development. It’s a pleasure to reconnect with the Mason Korea community.
Can you share a memorable experience or highlight from your time at Mason Korea?
It has been a while since I studied at Mason Korea, but one experience that still stands out is a final group project in a Government class. Over several days, my team applied various theoretical frameworks we had studied to real-world events, engaging in in-depth discussions and constructively challenging one another’s viewpoints. We integrated our diverse perspectives to develop a well-rounded analysis, which we then presented and received insightful feedback on from our professor. This experience not only deepened my understanding of the topic but also solidified my passion for collaborative work involving stakeholders from different cultures and sectors.
Can you share your career journey and how your experience at Mason Korea prepared you for your career?
Studying Global Affairs and Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Mason Korea gave me a broad and nuanced perspective on global issues, forming a strong foundation for both my academic and professional development. After graduation, I pursued a Master's degree in International Relations / Political Science, where I expanded on the analytical tools I acquired at Mason to focus more deeply on specific geopolitical contexts. These academic experiences equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the fields of human rights and humanitarian assistance.
What advice would you give to current Mason Korea students or recent graduates?
I encourage current students and recent graduates to stay curious and take time to explore different interests. Trying out various roles and sectors can be incredibly valuable before choosing a specific career path. I also want to emphasize the importance of patience—starting your career can feel uncertain, and it’s easy to feel anxious. But opportunities will come, and there is no single "right" path forward.
What are your future career or personal goals?
Currently, I’m committed to advancing MSF’s mission by recruiting, developing, and deploying a diverse group of professionals to support projects around the world. I believe that global engagement is crucial to MSF’s ability to respond effectively to the needs of communities with diverse political, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
On a more personal note, I hope to meet and collaborate with people who share similar values and aspirations. I believe that through meaningful partnerships, we can make a tangible impact on some of today’s most complex global challenges.
