George Mason University Korea hosted a Korean cultural experience on June 26 in celebration of the 2026 World History Association (WHA) Annual Conference, in partnership with Incheon National University’s HUSS Inclusive Society Project Group.
Founded to advance the study and teaching of world history, the World History Association brings together scholars and educators from around the world through its annual conference. This year’s cultural program introduced conference participants to Korean culture while providing opportunities for exchange among researchers from Korea and abroad.
Held under the theme “Connecting the World Through Inclusion,” the event brought together Mason Korea, Incheon National University’s HUSS Inclusive Society Project Group, and the Incheon Tourism Organization. Each organization operated promotional and cultural experience booths, while students engaged with conference participants through interactive activities.
Participants experienced Korean culture through hanbok and Hangeul calligraphy, while trained students from Mason Korea and Incheon National University created personalized calligraphy artwork for visitors.
During the event, Mason Korea and Incheon National University’s HUSS Inclusive Society Project Group signed a memorandum of understanding to expand collaboration in education, research, and community engagement. The program also featured a taekwondo demonstration by the World Olympic Taekwondo Federation Demonstration Team.
“The World History Association Annual Conference in Incheon provided a meaningful opportunity to introduce Korean culture and the region’s educational environment to scholars from around the world,” said Joshua Park, Campus Dean of Mason Korea. “We look forward to continuing to strengthen collaboration in research, education, and global engagement.”
