Mason Korea students, faculty, and staff joined forces to complete a community mural as part of the Mason Korea x GM Dreams Mural Painting Volunteer Program on October 26, 2026.
Organized and coordinated by the Community Relations Team within Mason Korea’s Office of External Affairs, the initiative brought together members of the university community to contribute their time and creativity to a collaborative project aimed at strengthening community connections.
The program took place across two sessions, beginning with an initial sketching session on October 23 and concluding with the final painting session on October 26. During the first session, volunteers prepared the mural outlines, laying the groundwork for the colorful artwork completed during the second session.
Working in groups, participants painted their assigned sections of the mural, transforming the initial sketches into a vibrant piece of community artwork. The collaborative process provided an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to work alongside one another while contributing to a shared community project.
Professor John McGrew played a central role in the artistic development of the mural, designing the artwork and providing creative direction throughout the project. His guidance helped bring the overall vision to life while encouraging participants to contribute to the creative process.
The initiative was led by the Community Relations Team within the Office of External Affairs, which oversaw the planning, coordination, and implementation of the volunteer program.
The completed mural reflects the collective efforts of the volunteers and the spirit of collaboration that defined the project.
Through community engagement initiatives such as the Mason Korea x GM Dreams Mural Painting Volunteer Program, Mason Korea continues to strengthen its relationships with local partners and provide meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to contribute beyond the classroom.
