People say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. What is not mentioned in this phrase, however, is that our perceptions of beauty are in the eyes of many other beholders--socially constructed globally in ways that can empower but also harm people. More than just a lecture, join us for a dynamic cross-cultural discussion bringing together leading academics on these issues and students and faculty in the Mason community in the US and Korea. We will discuss how constructions of beauty and race overlap and impact people’s health and how we can build a more beautiful, healthy and inclusive world together.
