Community Meeting on "Hate Crimes Against Asians in the United States"

Friday, May 21, 2021 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM KST
Online (Zoom)

We realize that many of our students, and their families, are concerned over the recent increases in hate crimes against Asians unfolding in the midst of the United States’ historical struggle with racism and inequality. This community meeting is meant to provide a space where we can begin to discuss these issues and answer some of the questions and concerns that we realize many of you may have about going to the United States as part of your educational journey with George Mason University Korea.

While the participants in this community meeting are by no means experts, we hope to address your questions and concerns honestly and from the lens of our shared experiences in navigating these issues, and to ensure that you are connected to the right support resources in Korea and in Fairfax in regards to matters of race, coalition building, and diversity education.

Participants

  • Associate Dean Yorgun Marcel, Mason Korea Student Affairs
  • Prof. Robert Graham, American Cultures
  • Student representatives at Fairfax
