Stop the Excavators - Special Lecture by Mr. Daul Jang (Government Relations & Advocacy Specialist, Greenpeace East Asia Seoul office)

The fourth meet-up session of the "Sustainability and ESG Mentor" alumni group at Mason Korea was held on June 29th, 2023. The topic 'Stop the Excavators’ was presented by Mr. Daul Jang, Government Relations & Advocacy Specialist, Greenpeace East Asia Seoul office.

 

Around 10 alumni and MK students, including Huiyong Kim ('18 Global Affairs), Gueyong Lee ('19, Accounting), Youngjin Kang ('07, Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution), actively participated in a thought-provoking discussion on the topic of illegal mining in Yanomami Indigenous Land. The conversation centered around the severe consequences this practice has on the Amazon rainforest, which is being poisoned due to small-scale and often illegal gold mining activities.
