Fundraising Campaign Update

Fundraising Campaign Update

I am happy to update you on our progress in “Thanks Knows No Bounds” scholarship fundraiser, which began on Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving, and will end on November 28, just following the US Thanksgiving.  The scholarship will support the travel of US Mason and Mason Korea students with financial need to and from Korea.  I am pleased to say that we are currently at $22,870, 91% of the way to our $25,000 goal.  A great big thank you and 감사합니다 to those who have already given.

If you have not yet given, I hope you will. Here are two reasons to do so.

First, the scholarships we provide to students with financial need lets them be students. As one of our scholarship recipients wrote,

You have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, learning.

Other students have told us this kind of need-based financial support allows them to participate in intellectually enriching and career and community-building extra-curricular activities, such as work in student organizations or in one of our research centers.

Second, your gift inspires the spirit of giving in others. As another of our student scholarship recipients wrote,

Thank you once again, and I promise you to work hard so that I can give back to the society.

At George Mason, we emphasize the importance of giving back to our communities. Perhaps the best way we teach this lesson, is when our students see it in action.

Study across languages and cultures transforms students lives. We want to help reduce financial barriers so that all our students can experience it. Every donation, no matter the size, will help get us to our goal.  And every gift, no matter the size, is welcome and very deeply appreciated. It is easy to give.  Go to this page to learn more about the campaign and to give, or you can go directly to Mason Korea’s George Mason University Foundation page.

On behalf of our George Mason University students, thank you for your support.
