The Campus Dean applauds the recent victory of an international student in a Korean speech contest and examines the growing trend of Korean language studies in the US.

This summer, international students from three IGC universities participated in an immersive Korean language and culture program led by Mason Korea Professor Hyang Lee.

Dr. Roland B. Wilson, an associate professor of conflict analysis and resolution at Mason Korea, recently co-authored a book titled Australian Missionaries’ Support to the Korean Independence Movement.

Giselle Rahimi, a freshman global affairs major, won first place at the 2023 IFEZ Korean Speech Contest. A native of Virginia, Rahimi's proficiency in the Korean language is mostly self-taught. 

Following an initial setback, Seung Gyo Kim, a senior majoring in conflict analysis and resolution, has forged his own unique path and has emerged as a passionate scholar in conflict resolution and advocate for public diplomacy.

Sung Jae Kim has had an extensive career at KOTRA, South Korea's international trade and investment promotion agency. His professional journey has led him to help develop emerging markets across the globe.
