Mason Korea recently teamed up with General Motors Korea, the Bupyeong-gu Volunteer Center, Notre Dame Welfare Center, and Notre Dame Bakery for a community kimchi-making event that brought more than 100 people together, from students and faculty to GM executives and local volunteers.
Held outdoors in Bupyeong, volunteers worked side by side to prepare 8.3 tons of kimchi, which will be delivered to childcare centers, welfare facilities, and low-income households across Incheon.
“This event showed how a university, a global company, and local organizations can come together for something that genuinely matters,” said Campus Dean Joshua Park. “Mason Korea will continue to grow with our community and expand programs that make a real, positive impact.”
Leadership from GM Korea and GM Technical Center Korea also took part in the activities, and local government officials visited to thank volunteers and show support for the collaborative effort.
The kimchi-making event is part of Mason Cares, Mason Korea’s ongoing community initiative. The campus has partnered with GM on projects such as mural painting and the Global Career Camp, and continues to take part in efforts including coastal cleanup and plogging activities, donations to local childcare centers, and coal-briquette deliveries. Through these sustained programs, Mason Korea continues to build meaningful relationships within the local community.
