Pre-Departure Orientation
(via Zoom)		 KST 9PM, April 9, Thursday Mandatory: an invitation email will be sent to you from mkintl@gmu.edu. Check your email.
Flight tickets & Travel arrangement -   Students are to arrange travel individually. Students should arrive by August 16, 2026, before the in-person international student orientation on August 18, 2026.
Immunization Record Upload Deadline EST Saturday, August 1

Access the Patient Portal with your Patriot Web credentials. *Students are encouraged to upload the immunization form and supporting documents sooner than August 1. 
Check Bill + Payment and review payment options EST July 

For registration done by (TBA). 
The fall semester bill will show on student accounts around July. Please visit the Student Accounts website for specific dates and information regarding payment.

F-1 Immigration and Compliance Webinar EST Monday, August 10 Mandatory, Online, EST 09:00 - 10:30.
On-Campus Housing Early Move-in Date EST Wednesday, July 1

Early move-in requires prior approval.

For those who have a housing agreement for Fall 2026 can complete the early arrival form from July 1 until August 1. This will be available on the housing portal.

Check packing information on the HRL website.
International Undergraduate Student Orientation EST Tuesday, August 18 Mandatory, In-Person, Location TBD at GMU Fairfax Campus, EST 09:00 - 14:00.
First Day of Class  EST Monday, August 24 Students must arrive by Sunday, August 16.
Last Day to Add EST Monday, August 31 Fairfax Fall 2026 Academic Calendar
       

 

Important Dates for Housing Application

  • Fall 2026 ONLY housing application option is not available for Fall semester.
  • 10 AM, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 EST: Academic Year Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 housing application opens.
  • December 1, 2026 EST: Students completing their final semester at Fairfax in Fall 2026 must submit a release request by the December 1st. The deadline is subject to change—please double-check with the HRL at housing@gmu.edu.
  • NOTE: If you fail to submit the release request by the due date, Fairfax Housing and Residence Life will still process the request if you will no longer take classes at the Fairfax campus. 

 

How Housing Application Cycles Work

On-campus residency is offered on an academic-year basis. Assuming you are to spend two consecutive semesters at GMU Fairfax;

  • If you are starting your semester at Fairfax in the spring, you will need to submit two separate housing applications: one for the spring semester and another for the following academic year. 

Students who intend to leave housing at the end of the fall semester should apply for cancellation.
