Associate Professor
I am an Associate Professor of Global Affairs at George Mason University Korea. I specialize in international peace and security, international political economy, civil wars and political violence, peacebuilding in divided societies from a comparative perspective, and the design of conflict and risk assessment frameworks. I hold a Ph.D. in International Studies from the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver and a MTS from Harvard University.
During the 2022 – 2023 academic year, I was a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Peace and Conflict Research (DPCR) at Uppsala University where I was managing a study of inclusive governance and violence reduction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Crisis Bureau and working with the new Protecting Elections Initiative at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). In addition to my teaching and research, I have extensive professional experience managing relief, development, and peacebuilding programs in disaster and conflict-affected countries including Haiti, Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, and South Sudan.
