I am a scholar of contemporary history (twentieth and twenty-first centuries) with a focus on human rights politics, transnational activism, and conceptual history. I recently edited a special issue entitled “The Multiple Meanings of Human Rights in Germany” in the Journal of Contemporary History (2025). A native of the United States, I have lived in five countries.
Current Research
I am currently working on a conceptual history of the concept of cosmopolitanism.
