Dr. ChangGyo Ryu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. Professor Ryu is a coordinator of the MCL program at Mason Korea. She holds a Ph.D. in Chinese language and literature from Seoul National University. Before joining us, she taught at several universities, including Seoul National University and Yonsei University. Dr. Ryu teaches 100- and 200-level Chinese courses at George Mason University, Korea.
She researched at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and published Studies of Chinese Literature in the U.S.A. She was a visiting scholar at the Chinese Academy of Social Science(Beijing, China), actively participated in various academic activities, and published papers in famous Chinese journals.
Her works appeared in numerous academic publications. She received the Excellent Articles Award from The Society for Chinese Language & Literature in Seoul, Korea, in 2007. She also authored several books, including The Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty Poetess Yu Xuanji and The Completed Poems of the Tang Dynasty Courtesan Xue Tao. In particular, her Wang Guowei, A Critical Biography was selected as an excellent academic book by the NAS(The National Academy of Sciences) in 2007.
She is passionate about teaching and learning in higher education. She loves her students and teaching. Recently she took the Pivotal Pedagogy session and earned the beautiful badge.
