Yong Eun Kim is a faculty member in the Computer Game Design program at George Mason University, specializing in the convergence of music, sound design, and interactive technologies in digital media. He serves as the Assistant Director of the Korea Serious Game Institute (KSGI), an organization dedicated to researching and applying gamification and interactive technologies for purpose-driven content and social impact. His academic focus includes spatial audio, AI-driven media experiences, and K-culture–based interactive content.
Kim is an accomplished audio director, composer, and conductor whose work includes the award-winning MMORPG Lost Ark and global hit television series such as Queen of Tears, Crash Landing on You, and Mr. Sunshine. His expertise spans both creative composition and the technical design of immersive sound systems. His work on Lost Ark received the Best Technology and Innovation in Sound and Music award at the 2019 Korea Game Awards.
Working across games, film, television, and virtual media, Kim has collaborated with artists and organizations across diverse genres, ranging from world-renowned European orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra to K-pop icons like IU. Prior to his academic career, he led media and music initiatives in Canada, supporting collaborations between composers and media productions.
Kim holds a Master of Music in Music Technology and Digital Media from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, and an Associate degree in Applied Music from the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
