Task Force

In 2020, George Mason University President Gregory Washington asked the university community to join him in launching a bold initiative, embarking on a journey to remake the university-based upon the recommendations of the Presidential Initiative on Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence.
President Washington’s vision is for Mason to become a national - and international-exemplar of anti-racism and inclusive excellence. The Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence (ARIE) Task Force convened six working committees that presented a host of recommendations to the Mason Community. Each college and school have been asked to engage with these recommendations and create a Diversity and Inclusion Plan. Mason Korea has joined President Washington's initiative and constituted the DEI Task Force at the Korean campus.
The DEI Task Force is co-chaired by the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs, Dr. Shannon Davis and the Associate Dean for University Life, Angela Kang. The overall membership of the Task Force consists of students, staff, and faculty.
The Task Force has met regularly since September 27th, 2021 and first worked on identifying key problems relevant to the Mason Korea community which fell within the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion matters to serve as the foundations for the recommendations that they developed.
The 2023 Task Force also participated in the Mason Day 2023 to inform Mason Korea and members of our community regarding the accomplishments of 2022 Task Force. Please visit the implementation page to view our full report.
