Communication: COMM 249 - Communication Field Experience

COMM 249 offers an opportunity for on-the-job training through an approved fieldwork study program. The focus of the industry experience is for students to work on projects that develop skills and/or apply theory in various areas of communication (journalism, mass media, web, interpersonal, organizational, public relations, media production, telecommunication, etc.).

Objectives of the Course

  • Integrate theoretical and practical knowledge of communication
  • Provide laboratory and technical instruction beyond the classroom setting

Field Placement

The student must secure a field placement for 50 hours over the 15-week semester. The work performed will vary, and should be commensurate with the student’s level of experience, ranging from a “job shadow” to independent work assignments.
