Section Information for Fall 2026

This course is a 3-credit semester program for beginning students of Spanish with no previous knowledge of the language. The course focuses on developing the four basic skills in language necessary to communicate with native Spanish speakers―listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It also includes essential vocabulary and elementary grammar for oral and written communication, exploring aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture and society. In addition, “youtube” videos, games, music and listening files will be used to enhance development of communication skills.

For students with no prior experience studying Spanish. Development of oral, interpretive, and written language skills through exposure to Spanish-language texts and multimedia, vocabulary and grammar-building activities, communicative tasks, and cultural projects. Notes: SPAN 101 and SPAN 102 must be taken in sequence. SPAN 110 is the combination of SPAN 101 and SPAN 102. Offered by Modern & Classical Languages. Limited to three attempts. Equivalent to SPAN 110, SPAN 115.
