Section Information for Fall 2024
Our local-global society is becoming more diverse but is plagued by an increasing number of conflicts and other social issues. Thus, there is a need to focus more on grassroots community engagement and civil society strategies that can have a positive effect on society.
CONF329 will explore how organizations and leaders across sectors can use community engagement, civil society techniques, and collaborative problem-solving tools to achieve their goals and reach consensus-based and mutually beneficial solutions.
Students will be introduced to different problem-solving techniques and will be given opportunities to experience and facilitate many in-class activities.
CONF329, like the CAR field, will be examined through the integrated lenses of theory, research, and practice (also known as intervention). This interactive course will use seminar-style discussions of the readings and include group projects, presentations, movies, and experiential learning activities.
