Section Information for Fall 2025

This course is designed for learners who have completed an intermediate level of Korean (KORE 202) and aims to improve proficiency through practice in speaking Korean. The course emphasizes practicing appropriate Korean expressions, grammar, and vocabulary in various contexts—taking into account the interlocutor's status, the event's seriousness, and social distance—to carry out real-life communication functions. These functions include describing, narrating, explaining, storytelling, making requests, refusing, celebrating, giving compliments, expressing regret, advising, expressing gratitude, apologizing, and expressing dissatisfaction. Additionally, the course introduces and practices the types of tasks found in official Korean proficiency tests such as TOPIK and the Sejong Korean Speaking Test. Through a variety of assignments, students will have the opportunity to enhance their speaking proficiency. Moreover, students will be objectively assessed on their improvement in proficiency through Korean proficiency mock exams conducted at the beginning and end of the semester.
