Course Description 

MGMT 321 K01 explores strategies for winning through people, the most important resources within an organization. The course covers a broad range of topics in human resource management, aimed at equipping line managers and human resource specialists with a comprehensive understanding of the role HR plays in organizations. Key concepts and techniques essential for managers to attract, retain, develop, compensate, and motivate quality talent will be examined. Additionally, the course emphasizes legal and ethical considerations in human resource management. You will take on the role of HR staff at MK-Biotopia and will participate in HR team meetings as part of their experiential learning.

After study this Discovery of Scholarship course, you as a student are able to: 

  1.       Define the function of human resource management in an organization.
  2.       Identify the many specific components of an effective human resource program.
  3.       Integrate organizational human resource needs with concepts of human needs and theories of motivation.
  4.       Develop skills in analyzing human resource problems and determining appropriate solutions.
  5.       Demonstrate ability to integrate theoretical concepts into policy decisions regarding human resource matters.

The field of human resource management examines what can or should be done to make workers more productive and satisfied. The course builds on MGMT 303 by introducing key concepts and techniques that managers need to attract, retain, develop, compensate, and motivate quality talent. Also emphasizes legal and ethical considerations in human resource management. A third attempt will require academic advisor approval.Offered by Management. Limited to two attempts.
