An introduction to music technology through hands-on work in Digital Performer 11 (DP11). Designed for non-music majors and beginners, the course covers digital audio, MIDI, editing, mixing, and multimedia integration. Students complete a capstone project scoring a 3-minute video, integrating manual production skills and (where permitted) responsible AI-assisted workflows.

Overview of ways computer is used in music. Topics include principles of musical instrument digital interface (MIDI); various kinds of synthesis; acoustics and sound processing; and musical composition using the computer. Explores music resources of internet and surveys current multimedia applications in music history, theory, ear training, improvisation, and notation. Offered by Dewberry School of Music. Limited to three attempts.
