Holi Celebration
Thursday, March 23, 2023 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM KST

What is Holi?
Holi is an ancient Hindu tradition that celebrates the start of spring, and new beginnings. The festival of color is a way for people to rid themselves of past errors, end conflicts, and forgive others. The festival of colors is celebrated by smearing and throwing colored powder also known as Gulal on each other, and water on the first full moon day of the month of Phalgun.
The historical significance of the day on which Holi is celebrated leads back all the way to the 4th century. While it is a celebration of the good that has triumphed over the evil, another significance of the day is to mark the end of winter and the start of Spring. We as Mason students want to bring this significant holiday to IGC and celebrate the coming of spring.
Holi in Mason is a great great deal that has been celebrated for years. It is too much fun to throw colors and water balloons at each other. Check out Holi in Mason Fairfax (Holi Moli 2019) for more info.
