As the Senior Mental Health Specialist at the Center for Well-Being, Ruth Kim provides confidential counseling services and emotional support to students navigating the challenges of college life. She partners with students to help them manage stress, uncertainty, and personal struggles while also celebrating their successes and growth. Ruth is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment where students can share openly, receive support, and discover their own path forward.

Her clinical work has always centered around supporting people across cultural lines. She has worked in college counseling centers, private clinics, enterprise settings, and government-affiliated programs, offering bilingual counseling in both Korean and English. With this background, Ruth brings not only her clinical skills and experience, but also her deep passion for walking alongside students through their personal and academic challenges. She has worked with diverse student populations and understands the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive counseling space.

Before joining George Mason University Korea, Ruth supported individuals in a variety of counseling and mental health settings, including community programs and international schools. She brings a broad perspective, professional knowledge, and personal compassion to her role, helping students explore healthy ways of coping and thriving during their university years.

Ruth believes that every student is the navigator of their own life journey, and she is committed to walking alongside them.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and spending time in nature. She also loves music—whether it’s playing the piano, singing, or simply walking while listening to her favorite songs. These activities keep her balanced and help her bring energy and compassion into her work.
