Priority Registration Checklist

1. Your Mason Accounts (Patriot Pass & Office 365)

What are Patriot Pass and Office 365?

New students at Mason are required to create an online credential called Patriot Pass that allows students to access a variety of Mason online systems. Patriot Pass assigns students a Net ID and allows them to create a password, together those make up the students' Patriot Pass credentials. By doing this, students will be able to log into the Patriot Web and register for courses.

In addition, new students are required to check if they can log in to Office 365. The Office 365 is the official email system for students at George Mason University. Mason uses electronic mail to provide official information to students. Students are responsible for keeping up to date on the content of university communication sent to their Mason e-mail account and are required to activate that account and check it regularly.

How to activate my Patriot Pass (NetID & Password)

  1. Click the following website and complete Step 1 through Step 7. Make sure to provide your G Number and the Claim Code*.
  2. After completing #1, click here to enroll in 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication). Please select the "International Number" and provide your Korean phone number including the country code for Korea (e.g. 8210XXXXXXXX).

*Please note that in order to create your Patriot Pass credential, you need to put a six-digit claim code into the system. The initial claim code is your date of birth in MMDDYY format. For example, if you were born on January 15 in 2000, your claim code is 011500.

Check if you can log in successfully

After the accounts have been activated, students must check if they were successful logging into both Patriot Web and Office 365 before joining the New Student Orientation.

Troubleshoot

Once the Office of Admissions acknowledges your intention to enroll at Mason, it will take additional 48-72 hours for both Patriot Pass to be available for activation.

If you have issues with creating Mason accounts, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs at +82-32-626-5060 or by email at mkaa@gmu.edu.

2. What to Expect at the Priority Registration

Early admitted students are eligible to attend the Priority Registration session on Thursday, Jan 13, 2022 (10:00 AM-11:00 AM/KST). At the session, the students will have the chance to meet their advisors and register for the courses. The session is being held to give the admitted students chances to be enrolled in courses with priority so that they have access to various university services and support programs early on.

The session does not replace the mandatory New Student Orientation. All new Mason students are required to attend the New Student Orientation regardless of whether they have attended Priority Registration or not.

Details of the New Student Orientation will be shared with all new students approximately 2 weeks before the event dates.

Please note that information regarding Student Orientation, Housing, Convocation, Tuition Invoice, and etc. will be shared with you via email. So stay tuned!

3. International Students (Non-Korean passport holder)

Undergraduate-level international students (non-Korean) who wish to stay in Korea for more than 90 days to attend classes must obtain a student visa (D-2). Students who possess visa statuses other than D-2 (e.g. F-4, A-3) that also allow studying in Korea may maintain their current visa statuses.

To start your visa application process, complete the International Student Onboarding Survey. By completing the survey, you will be registered as an onboarding international student and the International Student Services will send out emails with the latest updates on your visa application.
