“Students are our Greatest Strength”: Mason Korea Upgrades Its Career Development Center

CDCGood news for Mason Korea students: the Career Development Center (CDC) has relocated and expanded to better meet the needs of the growing student population and to cater to the Center’s growing services.

Mason Korea has hit an 80% total graduate employment rate in three years since the opening of the Career Development Center and the Center continues to serve as a crucial component for ensuring students’ post-graduate success.

Led by CDC Director Sangyong Lee, the CDC provides customized career readiness services for students based on their year in school, individual career advising, workshops and seminars, internship opportunities, and prepares career-ready students for post-graduate success.

The CDC also oversees project groups to facilitate learning and career preparation that align with students’ fields of interest. Project groups include the SDGs Builders, Global Sales Expert Incubator (GSEI), and Asian Boss NEXT. The CDC is also actively recruiting study groups for various areas of interest.

“With the expansion and relocation of the CDC, we are ready to fully support new student-led project groups and study groups,” said CDC Director Sangyong Lee, adding, “Students are our greatest strength. Our ultimate goal isn’t to provide one-way career services, but to create an environment where students can explore and shape their career paths on their own.”

The CDC now features a reception area, individual offices, and an advising room. Additionally, the CDC now also offers the “Dreamliner” space (G307) right next to the Center, which is a space reserved for study groups with full access to a large screen, sound system, and office supplies.

The CDC team has also expanded with the recent addition of Minsu Kim, Career Development Coordinator. “I am grateful to be a part of Mason Korea, where students come first,” said Minsu Kim, adding, “I am committed to helping first-year and international students achieve their career goals with our Four-Year Career Readiness Roadmap.”

"Our Mason Korea Career Services has done a fantastic job supporting Mason Korea students in their career aspirations, as our one-year employment data indicates," said Robert Matz, Campus Dean at Mason Korea. "I'm delighted that we are not resting on that success, but upping our commitment to serving our students with new staff and a beautiful new and expanded space that reflects the excellence of our Career Services and its importance to the Mason Korea mission," he added.
